Thinking of You Ghost Resist

Wow! Almost two weeks since my last post! So sorry about that. Time definitely manages to get away from me at an alarming rate this time of the year. I can't believe that 2006 is about to come to a close. Where did it go?!

Here's another card I sent out a while back for a friend of mine who's going through a tough time right now. I wanted the card to be simple, serene and have a soothing feel.....

Leaf images are Stampin' Up! (from their Best Blossoms set, now retired), ink is also from Stamin' Up! (Mellow Moss), and sentiment is from Technique Tuesday. Organdy ribbon is from an unknown source.

I masked off the large rectangle area, stamped the leaves with VersaMark and then heat embossed them with clear embossing powder. Then I sponged Mellow Moss ink all over the embossed images, still keeping the masking template in place. Once I was happy with the application, I removed the mask and placed a piece of brown paper bag over the image and carefully reheated the embossing powder with my iron, using a brand new piece of paper bag with each swipe of the iron. (I've heard some people like to use a paper towel for this, but I prefer the brown paper bags because it's a smoother surface that's sure to absorb every trace of embossing powder.)

After all the embossing powder had been removed, I put the masking template back into place and went back with the same stamp and the same Mellow Moss ink, randomly stamping more of the leaves over the previously resisted areas. I love this look. It's a technique that can be a little time consuming, but the results are usually very soft, very elegant, and always very worth it. ;) I decided to stamp the sentiment in the same Mellow Moss ink, to help keep the look soft. I was afraid that a black sentiment would've looked harsh or out of place, considering there's not another speck of black (or any other color!) anywhere on the card. LOL Originally, it was without the ribbon, but I added it to give the card some texture.

I think I'm definitely in a rut with these overly simple, white cards lately. LOL :)

And hopefully no one will mind, but I've decided to stop putting the hotlinks to product company websites in my posts anymore. There's a LOT of code invloved when typing up those little bulleted blocks of info below every single card I post. Particularly when there are multiple brands of stamps and inks used on just ONE CARD! Putting in and rearranging all that code can become quite time consuming. (The 'hotlinks' I'm referring to are the links to companies I'd usually provide when listing my stamp, ink, and other products used - eg, Stampin' Up!, Hero Arts, Colorbox, etc.)

I'm sorry if this disappoints anyone or is inconvenient. However, I've been monitoring my outclicks with my Sitemeter and noticed that no one's really clicking on them anyway. So I thought, "Why put myself through all that?!" LOL ;) Besides, most of the products I use are from very widely-known companies and pretty easy to locate on the web. I'll certainly continue to list every item used on each of my projects, I just won't be hotlinking to the companies' websites anymore. Thanks for your understanding! :)

Have a great day!

Lisa, this is totally gorgeous!! You've definitely achieved "serene" and "comforting". So beautiful. Now you've got me wanting to run down to my stamp room *right this minute* to try that technique. Matter-o-fact, I think I will do just that...two hours until preschool's out...should be plenty of time to play. ;) Thanks for the inspiration, girlie! :)

Your card is gorgeous and it made me smile because the one time I tried the ghost resist I used that same leaf image! I made it into a 6x6 scrapbook page :)
