I loved making this card! It was very time consuming (my girlie Dawn kept me company and chatted with me while I was cutting out the branches... all eight of them!) but in the end, I was able to take what was in my head and successfully translate it to paper. Isn't it great when that happens?! :)
The owls (from the Hero Arts Sparkle Clear "You Hoo Owls" set) were stamped on Creamy Caramel (Stampin' Up) card stock and colored with various shades of brown markers. For the branches, I stamped them originally in green (so the leaves would be green), then went back over each one and colored just the actual wood part in with my brown marker.
Doesn't that little guy just crack you up?! :) The owls' eyes were colored with my white, Unibal Signo. This pen gives the brightest, most opaque coverage of any other white pen I've tried, without pilling - particularly on darker card stock. After lots of careful cutting, everything was strategically placed with pop dots. The moon was done with a circle punch, punched twice, and then a sprinkling of Hero Arts 2mm clear Gemstones was added to make stars.
How convenient that the weekly challenge over at The Hero Club Blog this week is "Birds!" Go check it out! :D I had no idea that's what it would be while making this card a few days ago, but I'm definitely going to submit it.
Thank you for peeking today. And even though it's Monday, I hope it's a good one for you. It's gonna be a good one for me... Brown just paid me a visit (NEW TOYS) and I am so excited to go play! ;)

That came out *so* cute, Lis! Those little owls are hysterical! And now I *really* sympathize with all the cutting. Not that I didn't believe you, but I wasn't picturing anything *that* intricate! How on earth were you chatting while you cut those out??

Thanks for dropping by the blog, Lisa. Yours is wonderful as well! I *love* this card with the gems as stars, and I can only imagine how long it took to cut out all those branches! It was well worth the effort in the end, though...it's darling! :D Laura
