Special Birthday

Here's an extra special birthday card for an extra special friend of mine (click to see larger):

The overall inspiration for this design came from this card, but in this case, each flower was stamped, heat embossed, and glitterized (is SO a word, hee!) before being cut out. Originally, I wanted to do the packing tape transfer technique with the flowers, which was coincidentally showcased over on The Hero Arts Blog Monday, but I couldn't get it to work (I have since learned what I was doing wrong - not enough burnishing). So, I just went with the stamping/embossing/glittering on the patterned paper instead. I apologize that it's difficult to see the glitter on the purple flowers... the purple glitter is considered "transparent", unlike the turquoise glitter, which is of the "opaque" variety and obviously shows up better in the photo. The sentiment was also heat embossed, and then the flowers were arranged with different thickness pop dots, followed by a generous sprinkling of Blossom Gems and Gemstones. I know Tami loves to do stitching on her cards, so of course I had to put some on hers as well. ;) Thankfully, my bobbin cooperated this time! And of course, her card just wasn't complete without a little ribbon. I hope she likes it, and that her day is just as fabulous as she is. :) Smooches, my rockstar friend!

Thank you for peeking! Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday. :)

SUPPLIES:
paper
- SU! Whisper White, Basic Black, Basic Grey (two purple papers), turquoise paper is unknown
stamps - sentiment is Imaginisce, the rest are Hero Arts (Clear Design 'Thoughtful Messages' and a miscellaneous Hero Arts/Archiver's exclusive set)
inks - Colorbox (black pigment)
misc - black EP and heat tool, Sakura Quickie glue pen, Art Institute Glitter ('Wonderland' PeeWee kit), large and small Hero Arts Sparkle Gem Blossoms and Gemstones, unknown ribbon, machine stitching, and pop dots

Wow! What a gorgeous card!!!! Happy Birthday to Tami!

OK.. A question.. what do you mean by 'not enough burnishing' for the packing tape transfer????

Have a great day - and you are a rock star, too!
