a card a day in may - 5/4: BEEN TOO LONG (and a giveaway!)

Hi, stampy peeps! It's finally FRIDAY! If you saw my post already, you'll know that I accidentally published it mentioning it was Thursday. Oops. LOL I originally thought I was going to post this card yesterday, but ended up going with the purple one. Then a bit ago, just as I was about to edit the wording for today's post, I inadvertently hit 'publish' instead. DOH! Just goes to show how ready for the weekend I really am! ;) Anyway, time for another A Card A Day In May post... this one has very little stamping and instead features a cute die cut made with my Cricut:

Love that cute little giraffe. :) He's from the Create-A-Critter cartridge. I used the layer feature to get the yellow/orange/brown colors. The only stamping was done with that ever-useful Clouds design block from Hero Arts, and the sentiment which is from the Rubber Soul clear set, 'A Day at the Zoo'. Love the play on words. ;)

And the googly eyes! Who doesn't love little googly eyes?! :D

Now, I could really use a favor: I'm finally ready to try my hand at videos and could really use your input! What would you like to see me do... certain technique, maybe? Product review? Stand on my head? :) Give me your best ideas and I'll even make it worth your while! ;) Just leave a comment with your video topic suggestion before 11:59pm EST Sunday, May 6th, and I'll randomly draw one commenter to receive some new Hero Arts goodies. :D One comment per person, please, but you can offer as many suggestions as you'd like in that one comment. Only comments with video suggestions will be considered, winner will be announced next week... thanks!

Okay, that's enough from me... thanks for reading and TGIF! ;) See ya tomorrow!

***Comments for this post are now closed. Thanks! :)***

Such a fun entry! I would love to see how to do ink distressing without speciality stamp pads - How can I make that look using the colors I have? Technique tips for heat embossing. How to use blending pens and different ways to use them. Ways to use fabrics with cards (I heard you could iron patterns onto fabric?!) and ideas of how to stamp over printed papers.

I know I already left a comment, but this is a P.S. and not a re-entry try. I would love if you showed us how to to do the thanks card. I haven't heard of clear embossing.

Your stamp images are so nice and crisp. How about a tutorial on your tips and techniques on how to get them so nice and crisp like that.

I'm so excited to be able to visit your blog every day and see your different styles of cardmaking--from elegant to cute! You amaze me!

I'd like to see you do anything as I'm sure it will be inspiring--even standing on your head! Maybe what Nancy suggested: a card from start to finish, and how you choose your colors and design. Can't wait!!

HEllo Lisa,
As a NEWBIE, I NEED to know how to get that CLEAN, NEAT and CRISP card...in coloring, in design and technique.
A video of your creative process would be LOVELY, I mean how do you come up with something original?..(for now, I can COPY or mimick other cards I see(just not very well)...HOW do you create something to make one GASP? or say WOW! How does that happen?
I do encourage you in your VIDEO making adventure!
And look forward to seeing what you have in store.

I'm a big fan of interactive cards, techniques and handmade flowers. No matter how many videos I see on these themes, I can't get enough!

Love this cute giraffe! I rarely use my cricut anymore and it's nice to be reminded it's still useful :) As far as the video goes I am a big fan of the way to add shading to your stamped images with colored pencils. I seriously struggle with that medium and would LOVE to see how you do it!

Lisa, I really admire your style! I would love to see you do a video making a complete card. I would also like some of your ideas about what inspires you and how you go about designing your cards.

Probably my hardest choice is the layout, so maybe something that says how you chose a sketch or what your inspiration was. Maybe that would be your creative process. Hopefully you get what I mean. Love the giraffe, by the way!

Such a cute giraffe Lisa!

I would like to know how you come up with a design and a colour scheme and how you decide when to stop adding elements to your CAS cards.

Cute card! That giraffe is really sweet! As for videos, I find the creation process simply interesting, it's cool to see people make their cards! Thanks for a chance!

So cute! That giraffe is so adorable, and everyone loves googly eyes! I like the clouds behind him too (I guess I just decided the giraffe is a "he"!). Videos-showing your design process, like do you work off of a sketch, do you make your own sketches? I like watching how people make decisions/why they do things, even the goofs. Esp. the goofs. Or product reviews, those are always helpful :)

I am a bit of a video junkie, I love watching them so anything would be great. But I read some of the other comments and a start to finish card, and choosing a layout and color scheme are at the top of my list to see. I love your style and enjoy seeing your cards very much!
