simon says... a sketch! and a very special request

Hi, friends! I have a rather long post today, so I do hope you'll bear with me... :)

First off, it's Wednesday, and time for another challenge over at the Simon Says Stamp challenge blog!

As always, if you choose to participate, you'll be in the drawing for a fabulous $50 voucher to the Simon Says Stamp Store!

This week's challenge is a sketch, provided by my wonderful fellow teamie, Dawny!

Isn't the sketch great? I must admit it was a bit of a challenge for me, as I am usually a more simple/minimal layers card maker... but it's good to be taken out of your comfort zone every once in a while! It's an opportunity for growth. :) So here's what I was able to come up with:

I tried to stay as true to the sketch as I could, and yet still maintain some of my own personal style. What do you think? The design team was asked to use My Favorite Things stamps and dies on our project, so I used this great sentiment with one of their greetings dies (If you have MFT stamps and dies, we would love to see you used them on your project as well, but it's not required). I used a trick I learned from Jennifer McGuire and highlighted part of the sentiment with a Copic so it would stand out more. :)

Now it's your turn! Link up your version of Dawny's sketch to THIS POST by next Wednesday (the 25th) at 8am EST, and you could be enjoying a nice little shopping spree over at the Simon says Stamp superstore! Who doesn't love a shopping spree? ;)

Don't forget to stop by and see what the rest of the design team has done for this challenge HERE! And now, for my special request...

Heidi (of Simon Says Stamp) and her husband Jason are asking for your contribution to a very special card drive that they've organized. The 13 year old daughter of one of their closest friends, Maddie, has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Isn't she beautiful? Maddy will be undergoing chemotherapy for the next six months in order to prepare for a stem cell transplant donated by her 15 year old sister, Melanie. Here are the two of them together...

What a bond. :) Basically, we're asking for your help by sending a personalized, handmade card to support and encourage Maddy and/or Melanie... it would most certainly be appreciated. ♥

Simon Says Stamp will be collecting them until Friday, August 3, 2012. The address to mail your cards is:

Simon Says Stamp
Attn: Cards for M & M
44 Lazelle Road
Columbus, Ohio 43235

And if you don't mind helping get the word out about the card drive, that would be appreciated, too! Thank you so much. :)

See you soon!
