simon says... emboss it!

Howdy, friends! Is the weather cooling off where you live? Here in the mid-south it certainly has, and it is oh, so welcomed! Anyway, it's Wednesday - time for another Simon Says Stamp challenge!

This one is called 'Emboss It!' (either heat or dry - whatever you fancy), and the DT was asked to use Stampendous products on our projects. If you have Stampendous goodies, we'd sure love to see them used! But as always, it's not mandatory for challenge participation. :) Anyway, on to my card:

I used the fabby 'Vase Set' (all products linked at the bottom of this post)... heat embossed the large round vase with a couple layers of Sterling Silver EP, cut it out, and popped it up on to the "table" with some dimensionals. I originally planned to do a bit of dry embossing on this card as well, by stamping the other two vases on to scrap kraft card stock, cutting them out, and using them to emboss their images into the card base... much like you would use an impression plate. Despite my best efforts, I wasn't able to get the sharpest impression this time. However, after all that cutting, I wasn't about to just toss those vases, either! So, I kinda bent the rules a little bit and went with a "faux" dry embossed look instead. I simply glued them over the dry embossed areas, and voilá... crisis averted! :) TIP: Be sure all edges are completely adhered when doing this technique... it really makes the "faux" dry embossed illusion more convincing!

I stamped the "berries" with the new Hero Arts mid-tone ink, Red Royal. I am IN LOVE with this ink! I use red inks a lot in my card making and am really particular about them. This is absolutely the perfect shade - not too warm, not too cool. Thank you, Hero Arts, for making this color! :D After stamping, I dabbed them with my Sakura Quickie glue pen, waited a minute until it was tacky, then rubbed some Stampendous 'Chili Pepper' Fun Flock on them. This card is texture overload in real life! The Faux dry embossed kraft, the metallic shine from the vase, and the matte, fuzzy flock all provide fun interest.

Alright, enough chit-chat from me, good grief! :) Time to get to embossing! Upload your project HERE before 8am EST and you could win one of these:

A generous $50 gift voucher to spend at Simon Says Stamp! Who doesn't love a shopping spree?! ;) And don't forget to go HERE to see what my fellow teammates have made... sure to knock your socks off!

Thanks for poppin' by today, and for your wonderful comments... they mean SO much. ♥ See you soon!
