more from the simon says stamp july '13 card kit

Hello, again! Back with another card from the July card kit.... :)

I used sketch #252 from the Clean & Simple Stamping blog as my design. As soon as I saw it posted last Friday, I knew it would be PERFECT for the elements in the kit! The card base is a Hero Arts Punch note card, and the inks are also all Hero: Red Royal and Punch for the frosting, Butter Bar for the cake, and Black for the wrapper. And I thought it might be fun to use the leftover dot pieces from the pre-punched adhesive border strip as part of my design... think of them as sprinkles, or confetti... something festive. :)

The July '13 card kit is sold out, but you can go HERE to get several of the elements of the kit separately. And while you're there, SIGN UP for the monthly subscription so you don't miss out on future kits! They really are an amazing value, and SO well put-together.

That's it from me... thank you for reading today. Have a great day!

simon says... triangles

Yep! It's Wednesday, and that means more inspirational fun over at the SSS Wednesday Challenge Blog!

This week, the theme is the oh-so-trendy Triangles! And the product line we on the DT worked with was The Crafter's Workshop. If you have any Crafter's Workshop products in your creative stash, please show us! But if not, no worries... it's not a requirement of the challenge. :)

And now for my card:

Not only are they trendy, but super easy to make in a pinch - just cut your paper into a square or use a square punch, then cut from corner to corner. Here I used the MINI NUMBER COLLAGE 6x6 template, and sponged on some DISTRESS INKS (Broken China, Peeled Paint, and Wild Honey) for a resist effect. I also dusted off the ol' pinking shears for a triangle border. :) All on a POOL note card... one of my faves.

Now it's your turn! Upload your project HERE no later than 8am EST US next Wednesday (the 14th), and you'll be included in the random gift voucher drawing!

And do check out what the rest of the team has done for this challenge HERE!

Thanks for reading... I'll be back tomorrow with another card from the SSS July '13 card kit. See ya!

simon says... anything goes

Another Wednesday, another challenge over at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog. :)

This week, the theme is Anything Goes! Always a fan favorite. And another favorite is the product line we used - Simon Says Stamp Exclusives! This could be the stamps or the dies... just show us you Simon Exclusives. If you don't have any in your stash, don't fret... you can still play along in the challenge. :)

I used both on my card:

I used the HAPPY stamp set, and the HOLIDAY SHAPES dies. Tried my best to line everything up perfectly straight, but I can see now that my old eyes deceived me and I was NOT successful. LOL Anyway, The pink card stock is from HERO ARTS and so is THE INK. I'm sorry the stars look so blurry (I had lights coming from both sides, so it caused a double shadow), but they were diecut and then covered with a little dab of Glossy Accents and dipped in sparkly, black glitter. THIS ONE would work extremely well.

Here's a TIP: The best method I've found for glitter clean up is a good ol' disposable lint roller... just a cheap one, say, from the dollar store! Roll it all over your work surface, your clothes, anywhere, and then tear off the sheet and throw it away. Super quick and easy. :)

So now it's your turn! Upload your project HERE by 8am EST US next Wednesday (the 7th), and you'll be included in the random voucher drawing!

Don't forget to stop by HERE to see what the rest of the DT did for this challenge... such amazingly talented ladies!

simon says... anything goes!

Hello, again! Blogging for the third day in a row, can you believe it? ;) Anyway, time for another Simon Says Stamp challenge!

This week's challenge is Anything Goes! And the DT is showcasing Authentique and Bottlecap Inc. products. So if you have anything from either manufacturer, please show us! But it's not a requirement for the challenge. :) Anyway, here's my card:

I used Authentique's GATHERING 6x6 paper pad (which looks like is now out of stock - sorry about that) and fussy cut some of the flowers from one of the patterns to accent that lovely floral print background panel. The sentiment is from Hero Arts MANY BIRTHDAY MESSAGES... I thought the font was perfect. The sentiment was then diecut using THIS die from My Favorite Things, and I added a punched border using THIS trusty border punch from Fiskars. :)

So, time to get busy! :) Link up your project for the Anything Goes challenge HERE before 8am EST US next Wednesday (June 5th), and you could win a very generous gift voucher provided by the sweet Heidi and staff over at Simon!

And of course you'll wanna go HERE to see what the rest of the DT did for this challenge!

Thanks for stopping by again today, and for your sweet comments. xo see you soon!

simon says... take a picture!

Hi, friends! Back with another card for the Simon Says Stamp challenge blog...

..where your participation could randomly win you a very generous gift voucher to spend in the Simon Says Stamp super store! :D

This week's theme: Take a Picture. So fun and trendy! Here's my card:

I used several patterns from the MAMA-RAZZI2 6x6 paper pack by Bo Bunny. I even cut up some filmstrip edges off one of the papers to create a fun border on the main panel. The sentiment is from the MANY BIRTHDAY MESSAGES set by Hero Arts... I thought the classic font was a perfect match for the retro feel of the camera image. I also stamped the rays image from Tim Holtz's PSYCHEDELIC GRUNGE stamp set on to kraft with a tone-on-tone ink, then die cut it to mimic flash rays. This could be a "Birthday" card or some sort of "Congratulations" card, but I definitely think it has a masculine feel... what do you think? :)

And now it's your turn: create your photograph/camera/film related project, and upload it HERE by 8am EST US next Wednesday (the 29th) to be entered into the drawing for that amazing voucher!

And please head on over HERE to see how my insanely creative teammies have interpreted this challenge... sure to inspire! :)

Thanks for reading today. I'm still struggling with my sinus infection... started another round of stronger antibiotics this week. I'm hoping to finally be back to good health in no time. See you then with another card from the Simon Says Stamp card kit! :)

simon says stamp april '13 card kit - amazing birthday!

Hi, friends! I finally have a card from the Simon Says Stamp April '13 card kit to show you! :)

A bit of a confession... I've never really been into card kits. I was always afraid that I wouldn't totally love/use enough of the kit contents to justify the cost... after all, it is someone else who's selecting the contents for you. ;) HOWEVER, the Simon kits really are amazing... and each kit is better than the last! So, I decided to jump on board... better late than never, hee. :)

As for my card, I decided to play along with the most recent sketch challenge going on over at SplitCoast Stampers. Here's the sketch (the challenge thread can be found HERE):

And here's my card using the kit (I changed the orientation from landscape to portrait):

I instantly fell in love with the colors and patterns in this kit - so fresh and springy and trendy. STUNNING stamp set, too! Holy cow... I can tell this one will definitely be a staple on my craft desk! The kit is of course sold out at this point, but if you follow my link above to the stamp set, you'll find the other goodies that came in the kit that you can still purchase separately. And make sure you go HERE and get signed up for the monthly kits. May's kit is also now sold out, but if you hurry, you can get in on the June kit! It really is an amazing value and as a recent card kit convert, I promise you won't regret it! ;)

Thanks for popping in and for your lovely comments. See you tomorrow with a new Simon Says Stamp challenge post! :)

simon says... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Hi, friends! it's Wednesday again (and APRIL... seriously, how is this happening?!) and that means there's another weekly challenge over at the Simon Says Stamp challenge blog!

But this isn't the usual... it's a very special week because it's the Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog's 4th birthday! :D And we're celebrating with a HUUUGE prize give-away for this week's challenge! Heidi and everyone at Simon has so generously offered up not one, but THREE fab prizes:

PRIZE #1
Not $50, but $100 to spend in the Simon Says Stamp Superstore!

 PRIZE #3

Simply Amazing. I can't imagine that there's anyone out there who has yet to participate in any of the Simon Says Stamp weekly challenges, but if not, this MUST be your week to start! :)

So, obviously the theme this week is Birthdays. And the product line we all used was none other than the Simon Says Stamp Exclusive stamps and dies! If you have any Simon Exclusives in your stash, please celebrate with us by using them in your creations this week! If not, no worries... it's not mandatory for participation. :)

And now for my card...

Since my husband's job relocated us half way across the country and away from our families almost 6 years ago, we don't get to celebrate with them in person on their special days as we'd like. But, we certainly celebrate in spirit, and that's what inspired this card. :) The BANNER SAYINGS stamp set has this perfect sentiment for those long-distance birthday wishes. I paired it with the ALWAYS on the Edge wafer die, and it's a match made in cardmaking heaven. I wanted the card to have a edgier, more masculine feel, so I went with black, white, and KRAFT. The background is the Hero Arts NUMBER PATTERN cling stamp, and was softly stamped with Hero Arts WHITE DYE ink. I chose dye instead of pigment because I wanted the background to be subtle, and not compete with the "Always" diecut popped up over the top of it.

So now it's your turn! Upload your festive, celebratory birthday project HERE before 8am EST US on Wednesday (the 10th), and you'll be entered into the random drawing for one of the incredible prizes shown above! And pleasepleaseplease go HERE to see what my fellow teamies have done with other Simon Says Stamp Exclusives... you will be blown away!

Thanks so much for reading, and for your wonderful comments. :) See you soon!

9.02.2012

happy birthday, kelly!

Hi, friends! Hope you're having a lovely weekend... and to my US friends, a nice 3-day weekend! Labor Day weekend is always a busy one around here. My daughter's birthday AND our wedding anniversary is the 3rd, so lots of celebrating going on! Today was my daughter's party, and on Wednesday, it's "date night". :)

Today's card is for my dear, sweet, fellow ABNH design teamie, Kelly. It's a couple days late, but I hope she loves it anyway. :) I wanted to pay tribute to Kelly's FABULOUS style: clean and simple, white card bases, lots of bold color, and of course - the GLITTER! ;)

It's difficult to tell in the photo, but I embossed that super cool Hero Arts/Basic Grey Square Pattern background with American Crafts black glitter embossing powder. It has a lovely sparkle in real life. :) The colored strips are just pieces of Hero Arts layering papers... great way to use up scraps!

Kelly, I think the world of you, and hope your birthday was just as amazing as you are. ♥

I'll have the supplies list up tomorrow morning. Had a headache all day and just super wiped out at the moment. :) Thanks for reading and for your sweet comments! See you soon. xo

happy birthday, stephanie!

Hi, friends! How was your weekend? Mine was crazy, full of unexpected, unwanted events (like a stomach bug, for one - UGH). But I'm looking at the positive and enjoying the sudden, cooler temps! Fall is finally in the air around here. Now that we've been living in area of the country that actually has seasons, I think autumn is my favorite. How about you?

Here's a card for my sweet fellow ABNH teamie, Stephanie K. It was her birthday a few days ago. So sorry I'm late, but happy belated birthday, Stephanie! :D

I just love this tablecloth image. LOVE. IT. I stamped it on acetate and then mounted it on to a smaller black card stock panel, so the black shows through where the flowers are, with the pool border around that. It's a cool look in real life. :)

And now for the giveaway I promised! I have a humble collection of brand new (unopened) Hero Arts goodies that need a loving home. There's a clear set, a cling stamp and a wood mount stamp...I've even thrown in a gorgeous Memory Box die!

Just leave me a comment telling me your favorite thing about fall, and I will use random.org to draw a winner on Saturday morning. One comment per person, please, and only comments received by 11:59pm Friday, August 24th will be accepted. Good luck! :)

Thanks for peekin'... see you Wednesday with a new Simon Says Stamp challenge! Hope you have a great week. ♥
