simon says... travel/cityscapes!

Hiya, stampy peeps! Time for another Simon Says Stamp challenge!

Your participation could randomly win you a generous gift voucher to spend at the Simon Says Stamp superstore!

This week's theme is Travel and/or Cityscapes! The 'urban' trend is really big right now, and I went with a very straightforward approach to my card:

A card for a far-away friend. :) Love love LOVE this SKYLINE DIE by My Favorite Things! It's long enough to cover the full width of a card, even at landscape orientation! And the buildings are large enough to get crisp, window detail, but still small enough to layer, which I did here. I went for that dimensional, 'buildings near and far' look by using a gradient of black/gray card stocks (THESE would work well for this). I realize that the lightest gray buildings are also the farthest, and by that token would also have to be the smallest. But I feel I achieved the look and feel I was going for. It's just a card. ;) The sentiment is from this Hero Arts set HERE (a must-have), and the heart is the smallest heart from the Simon Says Stamp Exclusive HOLIDAY SHAPES die set, covered with a spot of glossy accents.

It probably goes without saying that there are a LOT of popdots on this card, HAHA! :)

So now it's your turn! Create your travel/cityscape-themed project, and upload it HERE by 8am EST US next Wednesday (the 24th) and you could win that amazing gift voucher!

And please be sure to stop by the Simon Says Stamp challenge blog HERE to see what the rest of my wonderful teammates did for this challenge! no surprise... I am BLOWN AWAY!

Thanks for reading today... see you soon! :)

simon says... snowflakes

Hi, friends! Back again this week with another Simon Says Stamp challenge card!

Hope you're able to play along with us this week... you could win a generous gift voucher to spend in the Simon Says Stamp store! :D

And the challenge this week is... snowflakes! I LOVE snowflakes! Paper, stamps, dies... I've built quite the collection over the years, hee! ;) The featured product line the team used this week is Glitter Ritz, which is an AH-MAZING glitter! Really, really super fine - the finest I've ever used. And just stunning! So, if you have any Glitter Ritz products, let's see it! But of course it's not mandatory for entering the challenge. Anyway, my card for this challenge features the Let It Snowflake die set from My Favorite Things, and Glitter Ritz's Stardust Opaque glitter:

I'm sorry it's not the best photo... I had a lot of trouble with my lighting for some reason. Plus, this is one of those, "it looks better in person" kind of cards. LOL Glitter is just so tricky to photograph! Anyway, I used the largest die in the set to cut out the accent snowflake, covered it with two-way glue, and then applied the glitter, which is a lovely silver shade - almost antiqued looking! The medium and small snowflake dies were used to deboss along the card front. Then I used my Sakura Quickie glue pen to trace along the debossed "channels" of the smallest snowflake, and added more glitter. I love the way it all sparkles! And the Wet Cement shadow ink by Hero Arts is the perfect shade of to compliment the Stardust. :)

Alright, that's it from me... now it's your turn! Upload your snowflake project HERE by 8am EST US Wednesday morning (the 12th), and that $50 gift voucher could be yours! An don't forget to click HERE to see what my fellow teammies made... beautiful projects! :)

Thanks for reading today, and for your wonderful comments... can't tell you how grateful I am for that! Hope you have a great week, and see you soon. ♥

simon says... let's play bingo!

Hi, friends! Can't believe we're already one week into August... summer is just flying by! Time for another challenge at the Simon Says Stamp challenge blog...

..this time, it's BINGO! That's right, pick a row, any row:

The design team was also asked to use Memory Box products on our creations. If you have any Memory Box, we'd love to see it used! But of course it's not mandatory. :) Anyway, I went with the third row down on the bingo card:

For the punch I used a Fiskars border punch (UPPER CREST used here.. unable to find a link for it in the InLinkz below), for the glitter I used Stickles (kinda hard to see in the photo, sorry.. click the pic to see it larger), and for the blooms I used the lovely Memory Box DRIFT FLOWERS stamp. This image is so amazingly delicate, I used VersaFine ink to make sure every single detail came through. Once dry, I added some Stickles in Waterfall for the sparkle.

Your turn! :) Use the bingo card to inspire your project, then link it up HERE by 8am EST USA next Wednesday (Aug. 15th) and you'll be in the running for a generous gift voucher to Simon Says Stamp!

Thanks for reading... be back soon!

simon says... a sketch! and a very special request

Hi, friends! I have a rather long post today, so I do hope you'll bear with me... :)

First off, it's Wednesday, and time for another challenge over at the Simon Says Stamp challenge blog!

As always, if you choose to participate, you'll be in the drawing for a fabulous $50 voucher to the Simon Says Stamp Store!

This week's challenge is a sketch, provided by my wonderful fellow teamie, Dawny!

Isn't the sketch great? I must admit it was a bit of a challenge for me, as I am usually a more simple/minimal layers card maker... but it's good to be taken out of your comfort zone every once in a while! It's an opportunity for growth. :) So here's what I was able to come up with:

I tried to stay as true to the sketch as I could, and yet still maintain some of my own personal style. What do you think? The design team was asked to use My Favorite Things stamps and dies on our project, so I used this great sentiment with one of their greetings dies (If you have MFT stamps and dies, we would love to see you used them on your project as well, but it's not required). I used a trick I learned from Jennifer McGuire and highlighted part of the sentiment with a Copic so it would stand out more. :)

Now it's your turn! Link up your version of Dawny's sketch to THIS POST by next Wednesday (the 25th) at 8am EST, and you could be enjoying a nice little shopping spree over at the Simon says Stamp superstore! Who doesn't love a shopping spree? ;)

Don't forget to stop by and see what the rest of the design team has done for this challenge HERE! And now, for my special request...

Heidi (of Simon Says Stamp) and her husband Jason are asking for your contribution to a very special card drive that they've organized. The 13 year old daughter of one of their closest friends, Maddie, has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Isn't she beautiful? Maddy will be undergoing chemotherapy for the next six months in order to prepare for a stem cell transplant donated by her 15 year old sister, Melanie. Here are the two of them together...

What a bond. :) Basically, we're asking for your help by sending a personalized, handmade card to support and encourage Maddy and/or Melanie... it would most certainly be appreciated. ♥

Simon Says Stamp will be collecting them until Friday, August 3, 2012. The address to mail your cards is:

Simon Says Stamp
Attn: Cards for M & M
44 Lazelle Road
Columbus, Ohio 43235

And if you don't mind helping get the word out about the card drive, that would be appreciated, too! Thank you so much. :)

See you soon!
