hero arts loves lawn fawn!

Hiya, peeps! I suppose by now you've heard about the week-long "Hero Arts ♥s Lawn Fawn" par-tay over at A Blog Named Hero..... :)

SUCH amazing stuff so far.. WOW! Lawn Fawn + Hero Arts = a match made in stampin' heaven, and the cards the team has made so far are nothing short of divine! You can click HERE, HERE, and HERE in case you haven't seen what they've done so far this week. Make sure you comment on each day's post, as I hear there just might be some prizes... *ahem* ;)

Anyhoo, here's my humble offering:

I LOVE the 'Making Frosty Friends' stamp set. It has a bunch of different accessories, which means that you can really mix it up, creating dozens of completely different snowmen! Makes the set a great value. I thought the fun sentiment from the Hero Arts 'Miracle of the Holiday' would compliment the whimsical images well, and I heat embossed it for a bit more definition. It's difficult to see in the photo, but the card base was stamped with Hero's 'Cling Dots' background and white dye ink, to play off the polka dotted sentiment and add to the 'snowing' feel. I was also really pleased at how well the colors of the patterned paper from the Dewey Decimal 6x6 pad (hat band and scarf) matched the colors of Hero Arts' layering papers. And of course... can't have snow without a little glitter! Some Crystal Stickles line the snow banks off in the horizon. :)

A bit of news... this card is kind of special, as it marks the end of my DT responsibilities for A Blog Named Hero. I have loved every minute working with that incredible team, and wish all of the ladies there the absolute best. It was an honor... THANK YOU, ALL! xxoo

it's a white-out over at a blog named hero!

Hello-hello, and happy Monday! :) I hope you had a great weekend! We were outside most of the time, enjoying this gorrrrrrgeous fall weather (ironic, considering that as I type, it's raining buckets outside... perfect Monday - HA)! After having lived the AZ desert 90% of my life, it sure is wonderful to be able to live in an area(s) of the country that actually has seasons. I will never take it for granted!

Anyway, it's the first of the month - time for another challenge over at A Blog Named Hero (I had the month off last month, in case you were wondering.. :))!

This challenge is a fun one... for me, anyway. :) Because it's a WHITE-OUT!

That's right! Nothing but white card stock. Love it. :) And here's my card:

Really clean and simple. :) The flower may look like it was just stamped and colored and cut out, but it's actually three layers of white card stock. I stamped the flower three times, colored specific parts (flower center of one, outer petals of another, and the leaves of the last one), then cut them all out and layered them on top of one another. It gives a thick, dimensional-but-not-in-your-face look. LOL Just some subtle layers... ;)

a blog named hero - freestyle!

Hello again, friends! Two posts in one day... can you believe it? ;) Well, not only is it Wednesday, but it's also the 1st of the month - that means time for a new challenge at A Blog Named Hero!

That's right, anything goes! For my card, I played with some of my favorite Hero Arts stamps (texts and reverse images.. even a little floral in there), and used them in my favorite style - clean and simple:


I stamped and heat embossed the "happy" dictionary image on to kraft card stock. I also stamped and heat embossed the Untitled Love "birthday" image with red embossing powder on to white card stock. I then used a black marker to color in the flower image and "birthday", and cut it out with a circle cutter. Finally, I stamped the "HAPPY" from Many Birthday Messages (I LOVE THIS SET - yes, I'm shouting, LOL) on to a scrap, cut it out, and mounted everything together with pop dots over the dictionary image. A sprinkling of gems, and voilá! :)
